The Joy of Walking Food Tours: A Culinary Adventure – Ryan Kosakura, CFA, CFP

Exploring new destinations through walking food tours is one of our favorite pastimes, whether we’re in unfamiliar cities or hidden gems closer to home. These tours immerse us in the local culture, history, and community through culinary experiences. We’ve taken walking food tours in the bustling night markets of Singapore and in the charming streets of Paris’ Le Marais district. Walking food tours are a delicious way to connect with locals and learn more about the place we’re visiting. Find them on Viator.

Whole House Fans: Northern California’s Cool Comfort Solution – Steve Block, CFA

We’re excited to have a whole house fan installed this week. A whole house fan is a large fan that’s installed in your attic that pulls the cooler outside air into your house and forces the hot air out through the attic vents. The quick introduction of cool evening temperatures will drop our home’s temperature by 10-15 degrees in less than a half hour; giving our air conditioner a break too! I asked people on Nextdoor if they’ve had any experience with a whole house fan and I received 20 responses, every single one having great things to say about theirs.

Exploring the Benefits of Word Puzzles: Insights from a WORDLE Enthusiast – Kelly Gillette

Many of mornings start with the WORDLE puzzle in the NYT. I have several text threads with my “WORDLE” nerd friends and family where we share our daily scores. I like to use a different word to start each day, while some of my friends tend to use the same words and rotate them. Word puzzles have been shown to provide significant cognitive benefits for aging adults, enhancing memory, language skills, and problem-solving abilities…and, bonus, they’re fun!

15 hours of audiobooks included with Spotify Premium every month. – Barry Mendelson, CFP

You’ve long heard how much I love podcasts. Now, thanks to Spotify Premium, I’ve really gotten into audiobooks – especially those narrated by their authors. I highly recommend Bourdain’s “Kitchen Confidential,” and Dave Ramsey’s “Baby Steps Millionaires.” The authors’ own voices make hearing their story even more compelling and inspirational. It is mesmerizing to listen to Bruce Springsteen talk about growing up in New Jersey in his autobiography “Born to Run” and it made perfect sense that his he first album would be titled, Greetings from Ashbury Park, N.J. Plans start at just $11/month ($6 for students).
